Sick Again
On Wednesday afternoon the director of Daniel's school called to say that Daniel seemed a little under the weather. He had been coughing all day, and though he wasn't running a fever, he seemed listless. While the rest of his class went outside for recess after lunch, he opted to take a nap with the pre-K kids and actually slept for an hour.
I picked him up early on Wednesday and scheduled an appointment for both him and Stephen for yesterday morning. Stephen had a runny nose and had been coughing, too. Though neither of them had a fever, I wanted to make sure they didn't have ear or throat infections.
It turned out to be simply viral, although the pediatrician was concerned about a slight wheeze in Daniel's chest. He prescribed a cough medicine for both of them and told me to bring Daniel
in again if he spiked a fever. He also said that as long as they were feeling OK and were fever-free, they could go swimming.
I was glad we got the OK for swimming because tonight begins what Tab has dubbed our "Never Ending Swimming Week." Tonight and next Friday night the boys will have a swimming class, which makes up for last weekend when the pool was closed. Saturday and Sunday they will have their other two session 2 classes, and then session 3 begins on Monday. Session 3 classes will be held in the late afternoons Monday through Thursday for three consecutive weeks. So the boys will have swimming class for eight days straight between tonight and next Friday night.
Conversation with Matthew
"Matthew, why are you taking your shoes and socks off?"
"First, I lick my foot and then I scratch it," he answered, demonstrating.
"Ewww, Matthew, that's disgusting."
"But it makes it feel better!"
Sometimes I wonder if I will ever understand my children.
