Bordingland Revisited
This morning when I dropped Daniel off at school, his classmate Patrick pulled him aside to show Daniel his country project. This is the same project that Daniel and I were working on more than three weeks ago and which was due on April 28. Daniel turned his in on time, as did Danny, the other first grader in their class. Apparently, Patrick had only just finished his.
This is not the first time that Patrick has been late turning in his homework. In the first graders' classroom, there is a chalk board that lists their homework assignments. Frequently the chalk board has reminders to Patrick's mother about late homework assignments. The strange thing is, Patrick's mother is a schoolteacher herself. You'd think that she, if anyone, would be diligent about checking to be sure he has finished his homework. Patrick will be attending a parochial school next year (though not the same one as Daniel). Somehow, I don't think he'll get away with routinely turning in his homework late at his new school.
Anyway, Miss Dawn must have been waiting for Patrick's report to come in before she graded the other two because when I picked up Daniel this afternoon, he proudly showed me his "Bordingland" project with a grade of 100 on it.
I am not missing the break from swimming. This last session was intense: Monday through Thursday afternoons for three weeks. To get the boys to their 4:20 lesson on time, the twins and I had to leave here by 3:20, pick up Daniel at school, and then drive to Trenton State College in Ewing. Afterward, we'd leave TSC a little after 5 to pick up Tab in Princeton and would not arrive home for dinner until 6:15 or later. The whole thing consumed such a big chunk of our day.
The next swimming session will be in June, for three weekends. It will be a lot easier than the weekday sessions.
