3/21/1999 Sunday Mendelian Impossibility of the Day: In Bambi all the male animals--Bambi, Thumper, and Flower--have brown eyes, and all the females have blue eyes. Drawing: My second upside down drawing. I switched from a 3B drawing pencil to a regular old #2 pencil, which feels more comfortable to me. |
Grey Day1:20 p.m. Tab got home from the wedding a little after midnight. I was still awake, reading in bed. I find it hard to fall asleep when he's not home. After he filled me in on the wedding events, he went back downstairs to shower and unwind in front of the TV. He was up until after 3, decompressing. This morning I got the boys up and tried to keep them quiet so he could sleep in a little. It was overcast this morning, but the boys and I managed to get a walk in before the rain started. It doesn't feel much like the first full day of spring. The skies are oyster grey, with blotchy patches of darker grey storm clouds. The air is damp and bonechilling. The weather didn't slow down Stephen and Matthew; if anything, they seemed invigorated by the cold. They scampered on ahead of me, stopping to exclaim over a strange shaped rock or a bird feather. Their blue and red parkas were the only spots of color on the dull, cheerless street. I accomplished one worthwhile house project today. I sorted through a cabinet, getting rid of an entire bag full of paper and old magazines for recycling. I had too much help, however, in the form of the twins, who kept trying to throw things away before I had a chance to look at them. Now that the cabinet is empty, I have a place to store the boys' coloring books, games, and puzzles. Of course, the cabinet is just a very small beginning of all the projects that await me. Tab is getting annoyed with me because there are still piles of my stuff--books, files, paperwork, and magazines--in the living room and in our bedroom that I need to deal with. I'm going to try to work on at least two problem areas a week.
