4/14/1999 Wednesday Weather: Slightly warmer than yesterday, but still very windy. Blossoms: Most of the saucer magnolias are past their peak and starting to look bedraggled. The pink and white cherry blossoms are still beautiful, though. The pear trees are becoming more green than white as leaves take the place of blossoms. When the wind shakes the pear trees, tiny white petals drift down like a spring snow. |
Night Out with DanielAnother one of my books is due at the Press tomorrow, and I have only just started the composition. I severely underestimated the amount of time the corrections would take; I should have started setting pages this weekend, but I was still frantically working on the corrections, which I didn't finish until last night. It's going to be a late night for me tonight. Despite the crush of work, I decided to take an abbreviated version of my usual Wednesday evening out and included Daniel for a little mother/son bonding while Tab stayed home with Stephen and Matthew and put them to bed. I spend lots of time every day with the twins, but I don't get much time with Daniel alone these days. It had to be a cheap date because I had very little cash handy and the nearby automated teller machine was out of order. We went to the library where we picked out some books and worked on the thank you notes for his birthday presents. Then I scraped the bottom of my pocketbook and raided the change box in the car and found enough money to buy soft ice cream at Petrucci's. Daniel seemed to enjoy being with me. He thanked me several times for taking him out.
