4/28/1999 Wednesday Blossoms: I was wrong about there not being many redbud trees around here; I have noticed quite a number of them in Lawrenceville and Princeton. Crabapple, dogwood, and serviceberry are in bloom. And lilacs will be blooming soon. Watching: Late night TV, once again. Thank heavens for Nick at Nite. Also the fourth and last A&E Hornblower movie. I'll miss that series (and not just because Ioan Gruffudd is so easy on the eyes). |
All-Nighter, Part Deux8:30 p.m. I did it again: another all-nighter, my second in less than two weeks. This is not something I want to make a habit of doing. Of course, I don't usually have two books with due dates so close together. I finished the book by 6:30 a.m., took a shower, and then lay down for about twenty minutes but was not able to fall sleep. I would have like to have rested on the couch this morning, but I had a bunch of errands to run: books due at the library, bank deposits, items to mail at the post office, and so forth. After lunch I put the twins to bed for a nap and then I lay down, too. I managed to sleep for an hour before it was time to go pick up Daniel. I even slept through the phone ringing; when I picked up Daniel I found out he was running a slight fever and Miss Pat had tried to reach me by phone. I don't know why she hadn't left a message. Daniel's temperature was about 100 deg., and he was cranky when I arrived. "Why didn't you get here earlier?" he snapped at me. I don't know what he is sick with now. He had a cough last week, but that seems to have improved. The kids are in bed now, and it is time for me to turn in. To sleep, perchance to dream.... I once told Tab that Borders is my second favorite place. He asked what my favorite place was and I answered, "Bed." That's because four of my favorite activities are, in no particular order, reading, sleeping, eating, and making love; I can do three of those activities in bed but only two of them in Borders. Tonight all I'll be doing there is sleeping. Good night.
