:A B O U T   M E:
Who am I? I am a woman, a mother, a lover, a wife, a daughter, and a sister. I am an American by birth and a New England Yankee by inclination.
I love my husband, my sons, and the rest of my family. I love science fiction and the novels of Jane Austen. I love cats and trees, the ocean and the night sky.
I loathe barking dogs and trashy TV talk shows.
I fear ice storms, tornadoes, global warming, and mutating viruses. I fear losing the people I love.
I believe that most people are good at heart. I also I believe that some are evil.
I have too much work and too little time. I eat too much and get too little exercise.
I love reading and playing with my kids. I hate housework.
More than anything, I want my sons to grow up happy and healthy.
A few other random facts
I was born in the only year of the 20th century that reads the same upside down as right side up.
I will never have a sister-in-law.
I will never have a son-in-law.
I know all the words to the theme song from The Mary Tyler Moore show, including the oft-forgotten first verse.
I can say the alphabet backwards in less than 4 seconds.
I rarely buy books, preferring to use the library, but I will immediately purchase any new book written by Connie Willis, Orson Scott Card, or Margaret Atwood.
The Gilligan's Island character I most resemble is the Professor. The Gilligan's Island character I would have most liked to have as a friend is Mary Ann.
I love butterflies, but I am afraid of moths.
When I was 16, my family moved from Mercer County, New Jersey to the town of Mercer, Maine. Both were named for the same man, General Hugh Mercer, who fought and died in the Revolutionary War.
I can recite Robert Browning's poem, "My Last Duchess," from memory.
